It’s 1934, the Golden Age of Hollywood, and motion picture studios are in a battle for dominance against the backdrop of a newly powerful cultural conservatism. As Hollywood tries to pivot to meet the moment, and to keep from becoming targets of the Legion of Rectitude’s infamous boycotts, the top male stars from two of Hollywood’s biggest studios fall in love with each other. Lance Grant and Hoyt Baxter must somehow carve out a private space in this constricted world, where persona is everything and privacy is suspect. Their romance becomes a cat and mouse game with the powers-that-be, as Max Factor and Company becomes a crucial hub of the resistance.
